STEM Education Leader Speaks at Summer Institute

June 29, 2012 - Nationally recognized education innovator Freeman Hrabowski, president of the University of Maryland - Baltimore County, shared his zeal for helping all students achieve at high levels at NCNSP's Summer Institute this week.

Hrabowski has been profiled by CBS's 60 Minutes, US News & World Report, Washington Post and others for building a powerhouse college in math, science and engineering that last year saw 41 percent of its bachelor's degrees awarded in those key fields. He spoke about the importance of  math and science education with special emphasis on minority participation and performance.

Participants at the three-day professional development conference attended interactive sessions focused on STEM, education innovation and other strategies and take part in school-based team planning time.
