A tightly aligned system that cultivates preparation and development, recruitment and retention, from university preparation to on-going professional learning is the key to preparing these leaders for this challenging task.
Breakthrough Learning emphasizes both individual and team growth through our leadership services. Using state agency, district and school goals, strengths, and challenges as means of development, we partner to embed supports that are part of the day-to-day work of the participants—individual and team—that will ensure relevancy and integration into the district and community contexts. We focus on bolstering vertical development, individual ownership of development, and collective leadership.

Our leadership development suite of services includes four main components:
Team Solutions
This work focuses on team performance, solution development, and individual growth that result in increased speed to action and improved quality of work. Our approach to developing high-functioning teams in education is through classic consultative support to solve immediately pressing issues combined with targeted team development tools, practices and facilitation.
Peer Learning Networks
With more than 3,000 educators across the nation, Breakthrough Learning cultivates disciplined inquiry among professionals who are working together to solve problems. Our peer networks – including others in similar roles, cross-functional opportunities, district and regional groups, and links to national partners – leverage the knowledge, skills and experience of educators across the nation who are engaged in a common mission.
Individual Coaching
Through a series of professional learning activities and on-site coaching, leaders will receive extensive feedback and challenging assignments that will provide a path for leaders to achieve personal and professional goals within the context of the organization.
Leadership Coaching Certification
The Executive Leadership Coaching Certification Program, developed through a collaboration between Breakthrough Learning and High Point University was created to develop individuals to become coaches of school and district leaders. The overarching goal is to assist school districts in building a network of skilled leadership coaches who will support principals to enhance their individual leadership and help to build a sustainable pipeline of talent.
